Our Vancouver civil engineering team was involved in the consolidation of two industrial sites into one 2.83-acre mixed-use development site. One of the significant challenges this site poses is it being in Richmond, BC. With Richmond’s flat terrain, road grading and drainage proves difficult, and the presence of an existing tie in point at the two ends of the site frontage as well as the road centerline posing additional grading constraints. Aplin Martin’s adept project experience in the city of Richmond meant our team was able to anticipate such challenges to forge tangible and effective solutions against the challenges of the site. The team was also involved in the design of erosion and sediment control design, storm system upgrades along the frontage of the site, and the relocation of existing sanitary systems from the right of way within the site. Aplin Martin’s civil design work is foundational to the long-term vision of the site to develop two 15 storey towers over six levels of parking. The towers will include residential units, affordable housing, hotel, office and commercial units at the podium level.
