Happy International Women in Engineering Day

June 23rd marks International Women in Engineering Day (INWED). INWED is a day to celebrate and honour the incredible achievements of women engineers across the world.

One of the exceptional women on our Land Development team is Meghn Khurana, P.Eng.

Meghn joined Aplin Martin in April of 2018 and has shown tremendous growth over the past 6 years as she has gone from providing design support to taking a leadership role in the design and coordination of a variety of challenging and unique projects.

“I have been so fortunate to work with an organization that treats everyone equally and provides opportunities for all. Every day is fast-paced and filled with new learning experiences. I love working on our variety of challenging projects and truly enjoy building core relationships with our team members and clients.” - Meghn Khurana, Project Engineer

It is important to reflect on the contributions of women in an industry in which they are underrepresented. As of May 2024, the percentage of newly licensed engineers in Canada who are women is 20.2%. In 2013, Engineers Canada adopted the 30 by 30 Initiative from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) to increase the national percentage of women in engineering to 30% by the year 2030.

Aplin Martin proudly endorses this initiative and actively strives towards achieving 30 By 30 through our policies and practices regarding hiring, training, promotion, succession, and all other areas of employment.

It is our goal to ensure that the women of Aplin Martin feel empowered with the knowledge, tools, tips, and resources that allow them to actualize their personal and professional aspirations.
